The Contra Costa Mineral & Gem Society (CCMGS) is a non-profit organization that belongs to the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies, the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies , and a member of CO-OP  (where members from other area clubs participate together in field trips for rough gems, minerals, rocks, fossils and more).

Meeting times and location:
The club holds general meetings on the 2nd Monday of each month. Our meetings are held at Endeavor Hall, located at 6008 Center Street in Clayton. Free parking is available. Doors open at 6:30pm, meeting starts 7pm. Guests are always welcome to attend our meetings. Children under 18 must be with an adult over 18 at all times to attend meetings. Members are encouraged to bring friends, neighbors and or family members.

What is the club’s mission?
Our purpose is to promote popular interest and education in the earth sciences, including geology, mineralogy, paleontology, the lapidary arts, and related subjects; to sponsor and provide means of coordinating the work and efforts of persons and groups with similar interests; and by and through such means to strive toward greater community and international good will and fellowship. We also support promoting and ensuring the right of amateur hobby collecting, recreational prospecting and mining, and the use of public and private lands for educational and recreational purposes related to the earth sciences.

How does the club fulfill its mission?
The club has monthly meetings and special programs.  Members attend and participate in local and statewide events and hold a yearly public show.

Annual Show:
CCMGS hosts an annual Jewelry, Rock and Gem Show every November. There are exhibits, demonstrations, dealers, a wheel of fortune, door prizes, grab bags, gems, faceted stones, rocks, slabs, silent auction, fossils, jewelry, lapidary art displays, findings, tools, and family fun for everyone.
