ATTENTION Recreational Rockhounds

It is now official: S.47 ‘John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act’’ as signed into law.

This new law has an effect across the entire United States of America, not just the western states or California.

The only good part of the law is that the Cady Mountains have been withdrawn from the status of Wilderness Study Area (WSA) and not included in any of the new Wilderness or National Monuments.  However, the battle is not over…  The BLM has just 3 years to present to congress a Management Plan and a Management Travel Plan.  If Recreational Rockhounding is not included in those two plans including all routes and collecting sites, we can kiss Recreational Rockhounding in the Cady Mountains goodbye, forever!  It is up to the Recreational Rockbounds that visit the area to save it for future Generations of Recreational Rockhounds to enjoy….  It is up to YOU!
